This solitary tree in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains of California, stands as a testament to this forest's resilience in a harsh environment. With extreme cold, little annual rainfall, the trees in this forest are some of the oldest known living organisms in the known world. Most of the trees in this forest are 2,000 years old or more.

I am a San Diego based landscape and wildlife photographer, born and raised in Stockton, Illinois ( the 'S' is - not - pronounced ). I am one of the many that came to San Diego for a visit and just kept delaying my plans to go home. Although my heart is still pulled to the rural and slower lifestyle of growing up in farm country, my life is in and around San Diego. Over the years, I've grown to appreciate the big city lifestyle, but I always crave getting outside, discovering new places, reaching for those places that remind me of my youth, and to find connections with folks that are also from Northwest Illinois.
