Shaped by water, this parched landscape was once submerged under a blend of salty tropical waters from the Gulf of California and fresh water from the Colorado River as evidenced from fossilized seashells. This location requires a 4-WD vehicle to cross the 4-mile "road" over soft sand and rutted crossings.
About American Landscapes
I am a San Diego based landscape and wildlife photographer, born and raised in Stockton, Illinois ( the 'S' is - not - pronounced ). I am one of the many that came to San Diego for a visit and just kept delaying my plans to go home. Although my heart is still pulled to the rural and slower lifestyle of growing up in farm country, my life is in and around San Diego. Over the years, I've grown to appreciate the big city lifestyle, but I always crave getting outside, discovering new places, reaching for those places that remind me of my youth, and to find connections with folks that are also from Northwest Illinois.
