The bell formerly hung in the bell tower of the Wyalusing Congregational church in the Township of Wyalusing, Grant County, Wisconsin. The church was located on a hillside in the settlement along the Mississippi River a little south of the Wisconsin River and what is now Wyalusing State Park. The unincorporated village was laid out in 1843 and was platted in 1856. The church was built shortly after the village was started which prospered as a river port. After the American Civil War, the village began to decline and Rev. Francis Kranz, who was a congregational minister for over 30 years in Lancaster, WI, the Grant County seat, held special services in the church from time to time for the long-time residents of the area. Ultimately, there was no activity and the church was formally dissolved. Rev. and Mrs. Krnaz purchased the property in 1971 and took the bell down for safety and vandalism concerns.
